Remembering June Luth

June F. Luth, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Wesley Health Center in Des Moines, WA. Her final hours were spent surrounded by her loving family.

June was born in the town of Ferndale in South Wales and was one of 11 children. Having a sense of adventure and passion for travel, she left her small town and backpacked through Europe with a girlfriend; she met her husband Rolf through a chance encounter in the Paris Metro. After escorting her back to her youth hostel, Rolf was able to secure a date for the next night at a small bistro in the Latin quarter which was obviously a success!

June and Rolf married in 1958 at FUMC Seattle and were long-time active members. As young parents, they raised their children in the church and were part of the “Merryweds” and spent many weekends at Camp Indianola on retreats and work parties. June worked as a nursing aide and later in the catering business for several prominent families in Seattle. Rolf and June were “snowbirds” in Palm Springs and had many adventures traveling the world.

June is survived by her husband, Rolf, sister, Maureen (Phillips) Griffiths, children, Tanya, Scott, and Jennifer and 6 grandchildren, Brian, Anders, Tristan, Luc, Emma and Nadia. June’s life will be celebrated privately with family and close friends.
