Good Friday Stations of the Cross
Friday, April 2nd at 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm (online)
Before Easter, there is Good Friday. The Friday on which the crucifixion of Jesus is remembered through a time of prayer and reflection on the death of Jesus. Join us as we observe Good Friday through the tradition and practice of the Stations of the Cross. This practice invites us to prayerfully experience and retraces the footsteps of Jesus in the hours of his passion. Join us virtually on April 2 at various times throughout the day as we journey together through each Station of the Cross at 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm. Each time together will be approximately 5 minutes with a Scripture reading, reflection meditation with music, and a closing prayer. Join us at the top of the hour as each Station of the Cross is premiered on our website (available via Youtube).
Holy Saturday Devotional Podcast
First Church will be making a Holy Saturday podcast available on Saturday, April 3rd. You can listen to the podcast at a time that works for you.
This 40 minute podcast includes contemplative readings, a reflection from Pastor Yvonne, several periods of silence for reflection and prayer, and meditative piano arrangements from Elisabeth Ellis, our Director of Music.
Easter Sunday service
Sunday, April 4th at 10:30am (online)
At last Easter morning dawns and we rejoice in the risen Christ. These are not events of the past but promises for today: in a year marked by loss, grief, and death, Christ stands in solidarity with all of humanity, even in death. Easter reminds us that in all the areas of our lives where we feel dead and defeated, Christ offers us new life, and proclaims that resurrection, not death, is the final word of our human stories.
