On Sunday, June 4, we observe Peace with Justice Sunday, one of six denomination-wide Special Sundays where we are invited to partner with fellow United Methodist congregations in a special offering to fund specific needs in the greater community and to support advocacy at home and abroad.
The offering is administered by the General Board of Church and Society and benefits peace with justice ministries in this annual conference and around the world. Half of our gifts stay with local ministries and half support the work of Church and Society globally.
Peace with Justice focus areas include non-proliferation and disarmament, peace-building, gun violence prevention, and addressing ongoing conflicts throughout the world. Today, we are invited to stand up and declare peace with justice in places where economic disparity, environmental degradation, gender inequality, racism and xenophobia, and illness and disease have taken hold. We, as bearers of Christ’s hope, take what has been poured into our hearts and work for real change in places that are hurting. If we want peace, we must be committed to disrupting conditions and systems that perpetuate injustice.
On Peace with Justice Sunday, we recognize the connections we have with all of humanity. Our gifts work together for the common good, sharing God’s love and advocating for change across the world.
Thank you for your generosity through your gifts on Peace with Justice Sunday.
