Camp Indianola Update: Heard around the “Campfire” with Colin Cushman

A few of us gathered with Camp Indianola Director, Colin Cushman, after the service two weeks ago and toasted marshmallows for s’mores over a mini charcoal grill (our portable campfire).

We learned that Camp Indianola is 63% of the way to meeting the challenge of raising $100,000 dollars to be eligible for a matching grant to renovate Madrona Lodge (some of us may know it as Chak Chak, or the Hill Cabin).

This past summer, camp programs adapted to included successful outdoor camps for middle and high schoolers, with each camper sleeping in individual tents and preparing their meals outside. Some of our church members can attest to how much fun Family Camp was this summer! Highlights included enjoying all meals outdoors, learning to paddle board, tie dyeing, beach walking, and experiencing a magical, night kayak to see the Salish Sea’s bioluminescence as their paddles trailed through the water.

Our church has two Indianola Site Board Advisory members, Mariko Schone and Denise DeGabriele, to represent us.
