Seattle Urban Pilgrimage

Seattle Urban Pilgrimage

Seattle is well known as a place of cultural festivals, the arts, concerts, sports, shopping, and green space. But after being here for almost 170 years, we have found much more.

We believe there’s a spiritual experience waiting for you at the heart of Seattle.

First Church invites you to an “urban pilgrimage.” Think of it like a mix of a nature walk and a podcast…You’ll walk to different locations around Seattle Center, and when you arrive, you’ll have something to see, read, listen to, or look for. Then you can walk to the next waypoint, then the next, until your journey is over. The readings and audio reflection have Christian origins, but the messages are framed for people of all faiths or freethinking perspectives.

The whole trip is anonymous and on-call: you can take this pilgrimage any time the Center is open – no one is timing or tracking you, and you don’t have to sign up for anything to participate. Your walk can be as short as 30 minutes, or as many hours as you want to make it. There are multiple tracks, so you can choose the one that fits your schedule for the day.

The Hub: First Church

All of our walks begin from a central hub: First Church!

If you are driving, park in the First Church parking garage on Denny and Warren is a great place to park. The revenue this space generates supports the work of First Church, including our hosting of a shelter for men experiencing homelessness, and weekly Sunday breakfasts for those in need of a hot meal. If you park there, thank you for your support!

Safety: As in any urban or non-urban environment, please maintain situational awareness in order to ensure your and others’ personal safety.

Covid-19: Please follow the CDC COVID-19 recommendations.
