Reflection

Jazz seems to have no pattern to it, but the masters have to learn the rigid, timeless rules of music so they know how to bend them in concert. Listen to the following jazz music from “Message To A Friend” by Pat Metheny & Charlie Haden (Wikipedia link)

Questions to ponder or to journal

Like the flow of jazz, the path you just walked has some of the tallest trees and sculptures at Seattle Center.

  • The tall trees hide the backside of the building on the beautiful walk you just journeyed. What decisions are being hidden in your question you are pondering? What have you discovered as previously unknown choice points that hide behind the trees?
  • The “Grass Blades” sculpture is rigid metal but it sways at the top, you can make it bend with a firm push. What is becoming more malleable in your life as a result of this question? What were you previously firm about and have instead let it sit differently?

Walk to the Black Lightning

Walk to the left of the Museum of Pop Culture so that the street is on your left, and go around it so you are headed towards the Space Needle. Continue until you see the Black Lightning sculpture on your right.
