Meaningful Movies: “The Economics of Happiness”

The Church & Society/Social Justice Committee invites you to participate in a Meaningful Movies online event on Thursday, May 25 at 6pm.  The event will include a showing of documentary ‘The Economics of Happiness,’ and a community discussion. This event is sponsored by Mt. Baker and West Seattle Meaningful Movies venues.  They will open their Zoom room at 6pm and will start screening the film online starting at 6:05pm. The community conversation begins at 7:15pm.  

The award-winning film, The Economics of Happinessspells out the social, spiritual, and ecological costs of today’s global economy while highlighting the multiple benefits of economic localization. The film showcases the steps people are already taking worldwide to rebuild their local economies and communities. It features Vandana Shiva, Bill McKibben, David Korten, Samdhong Rinpoche, and other inspiring thinkers and activists.

For this event, after the film the leaders will pose questions and then give participants the opportunity to break into small groups and go into separate Zoom rooms for discussion. After small group discussion participants will rejoin as a large group.
