Decolonizing Christianity, a six-session online course led by Dr. Ish Ruiz, begins Monday, October 5. In today’s tense political and cultural climate, the course asks how Christianity might be renewed into a tradition more faithful to the Gospel — and more capable of responding to the signs of our times.

Offered through the Reconciling Ministries Network, the course is open to both clergy and laity seeking deeper theological grounding for justice-centered Christian life, ministry, and congregational leadership. Together, participants examine the historical complicity of Christian theology, spirituality, and ministry in systems of racial, sexual, and economic oppression, while exploring the transformative possibilities emerging from feminist, queer, and BIPOC theological traditions.

What we’ll do together

  • Engage decolonizing theological perspectives
  • Reflect honestly on the church’s past and present social role
  • Imagine more faithful, liberative forms of Christian life and ministry
  • Discern practical applications for pastoral and congregational contexts

Six 90-minute sessions meet online on Mondays and Tuesdays — October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20 — at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. Cost is $150, and limited partial scholarships are available. If cost is a barrier, please email Emily at the Reconciling Ministries Network about a scholarship. CEUs are available.
