PRIDE SUNDAY 2024!
Each year First Church celebrates Pride Sunday on the last Sunday in June. This year, Pride Sunday falls on June 30th. This event is a chance to celebrate and affirm the LGBTQIA+ members of our community and to make a public statement about the care, love, and appreciation we have for each unique individual expressing their God-given identity.
This celebration includes a special worship service, the opportunity to march in Seattle’s Pride Parade with other Reconciling Ministry Network congregations, and a chance to serve cookies, drinks, and Holy Communion to all parade participants as the parade route concludes in front of First Church.

Pride Sunday Worship: 10am, June 30th
Join us for Pride Sunday worship at 10:00am on June 30 (note the time change for this Sunday only!). This service will include a special address by Joey Lopez and Tara Miller, Co-Executive Directors of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. We will be joined by other local United Methodist congregations, as well as other area churches that wish to attend. Parking is free for worship attendees and volunteers at our parking garage at the corner of 2nd and Warren Ave N.

Help us purchase 5000 cookies / snacks
Each year we serve cookies / snacks, drinks, and Communion for all at the end of the Pride Parade route (the corner of 2nd and Denny). The weather tends to be hot, and this is a great way to join in the celebration in a supportive way. There are a couple of ways you can be involved.
• Make a donation to cover the cost of cookies / snacks. A lot of people march in this parade, and we typically go through around 5000 cookies / snacks. While we’ve moved away from having individuals provide homemade cookies due to food safety requirements, we welcome your donations as a way to be part of this celebration.
• You can also purchase items from this Amazon Wish List and they will automatically be sent to First Church for distribution. Thank you for your gift! You must make your purchase by Wednesday, June 26th at 12 noon! Set the delivery address to “Duuna’s Gift Registry Address” in checkout!

Volunteer shifts for Pride Sunday!
We need volunteers to sign up for setting up, for handing out cookies and drinks, for being stationed inside the narthex to direct people to the bathrooms, and for clean up. We have morning and afternoon volunteer shifts. Lunch will be provided for volunteers who request it.

Order t-shirts and aprons!
First Church is offering Pride + Faith T-shirts and Aprons again this year. Wear your shirt or apron on Pride Sunday as we hand out cookies and drinks to people marching in Seattle’s Pride Parade! Order deadline is June 16th. Pick up your order on June 23rd!
