“Satanic Panic” – Seattle Premier of Documentary and Q&A

First Church Seattle and Trinity United Methodist Church in Ballard invite you to the Seattle premier of “The Satanic Panic and the Religious Battle for the Imagination,” a documentary that was released in 2022 and won the “Best Gamer Film” award at the iconic Gen Con.

The film follows the Rev. Derek White (AKA “Geekpreacher”), a pastor who taught and DMed Dungeons and Dragons during a season called the “1980s Satanic Panic” when conservative Christians believed playing tabletop games was threatening youth souls. The Geekpreacher continues to be a pastor today during the renaissance of tabletop gaming, and offers insights on that journey from then to now in this documentary.

Thanks to longtime geeky connections with Rev. Jeremy, Rev. Derek White will join us virtually to screen the film and to respond to Q&A after the screening.
