Guest Preacher Sarah Augustine, The Circle of Indigenous Ministries, and the Doe-Kag-Wats Truth Telling Project team Lunch and Learn on Nov. 23rd.

Join us on November 23rd as we welcome Sarah Augustine back to the pulpit! Sarah will be joined by Rev. Dr. Allen Buck, the director of the Greater Northwest Circle of Indigenous Ministries (the Circle) and members of the Doe-Kag-Wats (dxʷqigʷəc) Truth Telling Project team, who will present at a lunch and learn after worship. Sarah Augustine is the executive director of the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery and partners with the Circle and the Truth Telling Project. She was last at First Church in 2023.

The Truth Telling Project is focused on building relationships, doing deep research on the harms of colonialism, working towards emotional repair, and more to bring repentance and healing to Indigenous communities often marginalized and traumatized by the Church. The land known as Doe-Kag-Wats (dxʷqigʷəc) by the Suquamish Tribe is where the Pacific Northwest Conference’s Camp Indianola is situated.

Come and hear about the research the team has been doing about the site and their current work in building relationships with the Suquamish Tribe.

Your RSVP is requested for the lunch and learn presentation so that we can ensure we have enough food for all.
