Meaningful Movies at First Church is taking a deep dive into the issues around resilient ecosystems on Sunday, June 23, with a Lunch & Learn/Meaningful Movies event at noon. Sponsored by our Church & Society/Social Justice Committee, the event will feature a 10 minute video followed by a speaker’s presentation and Q&A. The speaker will be April Rhodes with Beavers NW, a local organization that seeks to increase the acceptance and understanding of beavers to support healthier and more resilient ecosystems.
We urge you to stay for lunch to attend in person with our speaker. If you are interested, we also encourage you to watch the 54-minute documentary Leave it to Beavers. Register online:
You will receive a link to the film which is available for viewing three weeks in advance, free to registered participants, and also a link to attend the event online.
Leave it to Beavers is about a growing number of scientists, conservationists and grass-roots environmentalists who now regard beavers as overlooked tools when it comes to reversing the disastrous effects of global warming and worldwide water shortages. Using their skills as natural builders and brilliant hydro-engineers, beavers can transform and revive landscapes.
You are welcome to attend in person or via Zoom. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the link to the film and the Zoom link.
Lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall, immediately following the 10:30 worship service. We urge you to stay for lunch and attend in person with our speakers. The program will begin at 12:00 p.m. and end at 1:00 p.m.
