First Church Seattle and Trinity United Methodist Church in Ballard invite you to the Seattle premier of “The Satanic Panic and the Religious Battle for the Imagination,” a documentary that was released in 2022 and won the “Best Gamer Film” award at the iconic Gen Con.
The film follows the Rev. Derek White (AKA “Geekpreacher”), a pastor who taught and DMed Dungeons and Dragons during a season called the “1980s Satanic Panic” when conservative Christians believed playing tabletop games was threatening youth souls. The Geekpreacher continues to be a pastor today during the renaissance of tabletop gaming, and offers insights on that journey from then to now in this documentary.
