Rev. Wongee Joh [she/her]

Wongee (she/her) is the Senior Pastor at First Church, Seattle. Wongee is committed to the intentional and intersectional work of our collective liberation. She is passionate about being in relationships of radical hospitality and celebrations of diversity. She finds joy in building partnerships and collaborations towards love and justice for all, here and now.
She currently serves on the Pacific Northwest Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and Board of Ethnic Ministries. She served in leadership roles across different boards as part of the New York Annual Conference and in the communities to which she was appointed. She was the recipient of the Methodist for Social Action’s Gwen and C. Dale White Award for her work on social justice issues. She also was the recipient of the Chautauqua Institute Leadership Development Program, being part of a national cohort
of ecumenical leaders. She received her Master of Divinity at Drew Theological School and returned years later to teach .Supervised Ministry courses on Formation and Leadership. She also served six years as a chaplain at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York. Wongee finds rest through being at play in the natural wonders of creation. Since moving to Washington in 2020, she has been backpacking with her husband Ben, delighting in new adventures.
