Jesus plainly taught that children were to be included and provided for within the community of faith (Luke 18:15-17, Matthew 18:5-6). Today, the church may be the only place where some children find the unconditional love and care they so desperately need to grow, thrive, and become faithful people. As Christians, we must take our responsibilities to our children and vulnerable adults very seriously, always attending to their spiritual growth and nurture. If we neglect to take adequate precautions against abuse in our churches, we fail in our responsibilities to these vulnerable members of our communities.
