Meaningful Movies at First Church – “The Climate Crisis: What can we do?”

The Church and Society/Social Justice Committee of First United Methodist Church of Seattle, in collaboration with its Climate Justice Working Group, invites you to a Meaningful Movies at First Church on Sunday, May 1 via Zoom to learn what individuals, organizations, and the larger community can do about the climate crisis. At the event, we also will talk about the online Project Drawdown video series Climate Solutions 101.

Guest Speakers
  • Rev. Jenny Phillips is the Senior Technical Advisor on Environmental Sustainability for the Board of Global Ministry of the United Methodist Church (UMC). She directs renewable energy, energy efficiency, and creation care programs. She has led fossil fuel divestment campaigns and currently convenes the UMC interagency coalition on net-zero emissions.
  • 350Seattle works toward climate justice by organizing people to make deep systems changes: Resisting fossil fuels; building momentum for healthy alternatives; and fostering resilient, just, and welcoming communities.

This event will follow a First Church Mayday for the Environment worship service focused on climate justice and care for creation, with guest preacher Rev. Jenny Phillips, a leading voice for environmental sustainability in the United Methodist Church.
