October 7, 2009: On-Schedule and On-Budget

Our new church building is on schedule and within budget. It's exciting to see it take shape. Here are some details about what's happening around the project:

Church Exterior - Brick has now been applied to the west and north sides of the building, and is nearly complete on the south side. We'll see brick applied on the east side over the next few days, and concrete caps put at the top of each of the brick walls. The titanium cladding over the sanctuary portion is underway, with about 60 of the hundreds of titanium panels now in place. The aluminum window and doorframes are about 75% complete, and glass is already in most of them.
Church Interior - Drywall is complete on the ground level and painting is also mostly done. A topping coat on the floor, called "DecoPour" is being applied right now and will be polished as the last step to finishing. Suspended ceilings, lighting, and ceramic tiles in the downstairs bathrooms are next. On the sanctuary level, scaffolding is still in place while ceiling work is underway. All utility rough-ins are complete, so we'll soon see drywall applied throughout this level. Wall framing and rough-ins are complete on the top floor as well, so drywall will soon follow.
Garage and Urban Outreach - The garage is set for occupancy on December 1st, so stairways are being poured, brickwork is being applied to portions of the exterior, and framing for the exterior greenwalls is underway. The final costs for the Urban Outreach space are being worked through, and construction is expected to be complete by the January 21 occupancy deadline.
Site Work - The alley between the buildings is now paved and open for traffic, and the tower crane has been dismantled and removed.
Funding - We're pleased that the $500,000 funding of our Urban Outreach space from City of Seattle has been received. We're expecting the legal documentation of our King County funding to be completed by press time and the County's $500,000 to be received shortly thereafter.

A big thanks to our Building Advisory Board and all those who are working, praying, and giving in order to make this project come to reality. Remember, completion date is set for January 21, 2010 - only 15 weeks away!

Make certain to mark your calendars for our Consecration Service on Sunday, January 31, with Bishop Grant Hagiya preaching.
