How To Join
Interested in joining our church? We’d love to have you as a member! Here’s how it works:
First, take the 101 Membership Class “Discovering Membership.” It’s a 4-hour class (including dinner) that takes place about once every six weeks. Participants study the history and beliefs of United Methodists, take a look at the unique story of First Church Seattle, consider the commitments and beliefs of Christian discipleship, and decide whether or not it’s the right step. At this point a person is ready to join the church. We schedule a date to receive you as a new member and you take your membership vows with the entire congregation witnessing and cheering you on! Click here for the next class date.
It doesn’t end there. The second step is our 201 Membership Class - “Discovering Spiritual Growth.” In this class we talk about prayer, bible study, spiritual disciplines, and how to engage in the spiritual life as a follower of Christ. Click here for the next 201 class date.
The third step is our 301 Membership Class, “Discovering Spiritual Gifts.” This class focuses on how God has uniquely gifted you and prepared you for your particular ministry. Participants study spiritual gifts and complete a spiritual gift inventory. Following the class, each individual holds a one-on-one meeting with a pastor to discuss what ministry makes the most sense for your specific gifts and interests.Click here for the next 301 class date.
The fourth step is our 401 Membership Class, “Discovering Your Life Mission.” this class takes place a minimum of one year after completion of 301 Membership and is held at a retreat or conference center over a weekend. The class focuses on your specific mission statement and examines how God is calling you to take the next step in working out your life goals. See a pastor for more information.
