Bible Sunday at First Church

What is Bible Sunday?  First Church and the United Methodist Church celebrate Bible Sunday in conjunction with National Bible Week.  Every year from Sunday to Sunday of Thanksgiving week, since 1941 National Bible Week is observed in the United States (McIntyre, n.d.).

Bible week and specifically Bible Sunday places a special emphasis on reading and studying the Bible.  It is a tradition for 3rd Graders to receive their first bible from the church on this Sunday.  The gift of Holy Scriptures is given to youth to start them on their journey of discovery; reading, and reflecting on Scripture as a source of knowledge of God, truth and guidance in all of our lives.

This year on November 19th during our 10:30AM worship service at First Church seven, youth will be presented with study bibles designed to help them thoughtfully navigate God’s word.  Pastor Jeremy will be conducting a special lunch and learn with these youth to help orient them to their new bibles.
