A Word Regarding First Church Staff Transitions

We at First Church are in the midst of transition! Alicia Choi is now our new Director of Communications, and many of you have met and are working with her.  Alicia is key to the office during this transition time and key to communications.  With Elizabeth Blanton’s departure to her new job, the office has less back up than it usually does.  The Communications and Outreach Committee has taken on some of Elizabeth’s role, and are especially helpful during this time, under the leadership of David Charcas.  In addition, I will be departing early next week, and Rev. Jeremy Smith’s presence as the new pastor will begin on July 2. Eric Liljegren will be on vacation through the first week of July, and back in the office on July 10.  And on the 3rd of July Elisabeth Ellis will be taking a well-earned vacation.  Whew!  Hold fast, everyone!  It will be okay.

Now that Alicia Choi has picked up the Communications role, her work hours have changed:  Alicia will be in the office Monday through Thursday, and will be available by appointment on Fridays.  The office will continue to be closed on Fridays, however Alicia will be working remotely, and can respond to messages as necessary.
Once Rev. Smith is here, he and the related committees (COSPAR, Finance, Church Council) and Eric Liljegren will begin to explore and consider additional staff for at least a half time position.  We are looking to have that staff person be present in Church on Sunday mornings, and take on some other functions with Adult Education and Formation, and perhaps visitation.
If you have any questions about schedule or events in the next few weeks, please don’t hesitate to call or email Alicia in the office.  She will be glad to help you.  I urge you to take time to drop into the office and meet Alicia and begin to get to know her.  We find her to be delightful and extremely capable and efficient. I believe you will, too.
I hope that you will be able to take a deep breath of the Spirit of God, even during this time of transition.  And I hope you’ll be able to attend worship on July 2 so that you can meet and celebrate Rev. Jeremy Smith’s presence at FUMC, and enjoy ice cream sundaes after worship with him and his family.
Blessings to you all,
Rev. Sharon Moe
